Gabrielle Ray in 1905
(1883-1973) - the
musical comedy star once described as
One of the high points of her career must've been her show stopping dance routine at Maxim's, in a production of The Merry Widow. She did a whirling dervish dance on top of a table, held high by 4 men. She performed high kicks, handstands, acrobatic turns and numerous other acrobatics not commonly used by dancers of the day.
